The catalogue today is The Doodle Desk’s own production. KOLCO is opening it to other designers: submitted vector work is checked and labelled, joins the releases that AI developers licence, and earns the creator a share of what each release brings in for as long as it is licensed.

Creator rights

What remains with the creator

KOLCO licenses work; it does not purchase it. The grant is non-exclusive, revocable for future releases, and specific about what a licensee may and may not do.

  • Copyright. The creator owns the work before and after submission. KOLCO licenses it; it never acquires it.
  • Every other channel. The same files may be sold on the creator’s own store, on stock sites, or to clients.
  • Withdrawal. Files may be withdrawn from all future releases at any time.
  • Category control. Permit illustration but not brand marks; permit icons but not faces.
  • Attribution on request. Be named in the release credits, or remain anonymous.
  • A clear ledger. Which release, which files, which licensee, how much.

Process

From submission to payment

Step 1

Submit

Upload source files in bulk, select the categories they belong to, and mark anything not to be licensed.

Step 2

Review

Originality checks, duplicate and trademark screening, then captions, tags and attributes are written and verified.

Step 3

Release

Accepted files join a versioned release that AI developers licence non-exclusively.

Step 4

Payment

A share of what each release earns, apportioned by the number of the creator’s files it carries, paid monthly.

Questions

Common questions from creators

Does the creator give up copyright?
No. The creator retains full ownership. The grant is a non-exclusive licence for the work to be included in dataset releases used for model training. The same files may continue to be sold, printed and licensed elsewhere at the same time.
How is payment calculated?
Each release earns licence revenue. A fixed share of that revenue is distributed across the creators whose files are in the release, weighted by the number of their accepted files it contains. Payments are made monthly, and every line is traceable to a release and a licensee.
Can work be removed later?
Yes, for anything not yet shipped. Withdrawal removes the files from all future releases and refreshes. Releases already licensed remain valid for their term, because a licensee has already trained on them; this limit is stated in the grant before submission.
How is originality verified?
Perceptual hashing against the existing catalogue and known stock libraries, trademark screening, and a human review of anything flagged. Accounts that submit work they do not own are removed and their files withdrawn from the next release.
